Congratulations to South Australia on being the first non-host State to have an entrant.
Check out the live Entry List at the Sabre Nationals/RQYS Microsite. On the water:
– dolphins were seen at the Sabre bottom mark two weeks ago on Waterloo Bay
– all the Qld Sabre clubs have held their Opening Day events and are into full swing
– wetsuits are all put away in the cupboard, it’s out with the rashies and spray tops up here nowSee you in 100 days,
SuePaul MatthewsParticipantHi,
We had NINE Sabres turn out for Frostbite #2 at RQYS on Saturday.GROSS disappointment however – we didn’t have enough wind to get racing 😥
Interstate readers – don’t be alarmed – this happens up here in Winter, but not in Summer
Sue
Paul MatthewsParticipantHi,
We had a cold SW breeze (12-15k) for the first three Frostbite races – six Sabres were in the Allboats fleet.
The hot chocolate after racing was well received
Looking forward to Frostbite #2 on 23 June.
SuePaul MatthewsParticipantThank you
Paul MatthewsParticipantHi,
I have not used the crows foot weave.
Not sure what ended up being used on my current boat!!
But she is a fast little baby

Day 1 – Heaps of wind – actually – loads n loads of wind.
Peel Island weather buoy reading up to 28-33k.
Racing moved to the western side of Cleveland Point – Raby Bay.
Twelve of the 16 Sabres went onto the water for the races – three short races (about 30 mins each) completed in the challenging conditions.Damage to centreboards was experienced by a few sailors leaving or returning to shore. Mo other damage – apart from some sore muscles!
Each race with a different winner.
More updates this evening.

Here is your extra special invitation to the Qld Sabre States this weekend …

Paul MatthewsParticipantafter travelling 3700km to get to the event i sure as hell am not going to be looking forward to another hoop to jump thru!
this is my personal view and may not reflect that of QSSA
Paul MatthewsParticipantHi guys,
I’m blonde.
I would drill a hole on the opposite side of the boom – big enough for the screw driver to fit thru. There’s no real breaking pressure in that area of the boom.
PLUS – if there is damage – or subsequent loosening of the fitting – it is EASY to fix in a hurry – which is when things break isn’t it.
The underside hole can also be used for securing jocket strap ends when trailing
SuePaul MatthewsParticipantHi,
check the soundness of timbers under the mast step area – especially where they meet the keel – if water has laid in the boat, it can cause rot in the vertical timbers near the keel that support the mast step area.Just something I found in a boat that I redecked.
