I do agree with you.
I have owned both wooden and fibreglass and although I love the wood, the low maintanence of the fibreglass suits me much better.

Craig
LOL 🙄 You are joke, I hope??
lamarstrehlow74ParticipantI am all in favour for a lower cost Sabre that is home built, but the moulds need to be all the same shape.
I have also seen good classes destroyed by allowing different shapes into the class. Although some could argue that the wooden boats are home built and all different shapes, the ability to manipulate fibreglass is far greater and therefor proposes a huge risk to the future of the class.
Maybe the solution is to allow anyone to build a fibreglass Sabre, as long as the hull mould comes off an existing Fibreglass Sabre.lamarstrehlow74Participantlamarstrehlow74Participantsounds like you are happy with your purchase, good luck and see you on the water
lamarstrehlow74ParticipantThanks for your relpy!
I really have no idea why the builder did this but I bet it saves a couple of kilos. So I purchased the boat anyway, see you on the water.drew
lamarstrehlow74ParticipantThanks for the reply, helps heaps
lamarstrehlow74ParticipantThe training has been postponed due to the weather, we will advertise a new date soon.
lamarstrehlow74Participanthey guys, any news yet on the delivery of the photo disks. we, over in Sth Aus, are really keen to get the photos and have our state presentation & agm later in May. It would be really nice to be able to display the photos to our members on this day…it’s well past easter when the disks were meant to be finished….??????
lamarstrehlow74ParticipantNot yet.
Assume they are still coming……..
lamarstrehlow74ParticipantDoes any one know when the gate will be open to put the boat in the yard on Saturrday (or possibly Friday night)
Is the oval up the hill going to be available to dump trailors/cars etc during the regatta.
lamarstrehlow74ParticipantRandal the details are in the calendar on the vic page.
lamarstrehlow74ParticipantThank you Barry for clarifying the issue. You make it very clear that it is illegal when used with all the functions available. I am thinking about joining you fleet and have a used velocitec from my sportsboat and It would have saved me buying a tack tick. No worries I just buy a tack tick and play by the rules, that’s what one design is all about.
Thanks for you reply

Rule 1.11.3 options
is not there in the rules on this web site
i would like to be able buy a new sail for $380 price of speed puk
it was always a poorly written rule, they just got it wrong
looking at the national sailing instructions and no 1.11.3in the
rules on the australian sabre web site if some body had bought one,
it would be a interesting .The tacktick cost over $500 and is allowed, go figure
lamarstrehlow74ParticipantSo from my reading you could use a velocitec as long as you turn off the advanced features and used it as a compass, would we agree that is correct ??
