Sabre Sailors
The Training Weekend is on again at BRYC. In keeping with the traditions of all things Sabre this year will be better (bigger and more fun) than ever.
Importantly what matters most is that we get a flavour for who’s going to turn up so that we may tailor the training to the group attending. We need to get some details about you and what you would like to see more of or less of in the programme. Then we can ignore it and do something completely different!
Please reserve your place by completing the following form:
http://tinyurl.com/sabre-training
The menu for the 2 days will contain some or all of the following:
(depending upon the make up of the group we may subdivide to concentrate on skills that will suit you most)Boat set up before the Water and on the Water
Starting
Short Course sailing
Boat handling
Mark Rounding
10 Do’s and Don’ts on the Water
Capsize and RecoveryDeveloping a personal (simple) sailing plan from race day to long term
Sailing Smart
Physical Training (to avoid injury)
A Champions view
Specialist session
Mental Skills refresher
Social Tuning: Bar chat, gossip, and sailing stories of old!IMPORTANT : PERSONAL TRAINING BUDDY FOR THE SEASON
This year we are offering something different. Every person who attends training will be offered a personal sailing buddy for the season. This person could be considered your personal mentor, come coach, come tipster, to help develop your sailing skills or or just provide some good advice. We will draw up a list of the faster, experienced, or seasoned Sabre sailors from State, National top 10 or Club level, and then each attendee will be allocated a one of these sailors. But remember you need to be there!
Thanks,
Victorian Sabre Training Weekend Organising Sub-Committee headed by Russell Ronney (Sabre 1751)

Hi All,
A reminder: This year’s Vic. Sabre Association AGM will be conducted on this coming Sunday morning at 9:30 AM (Sunday 10th of October) at Black Rock YC. Even if you’re not sailing at this year’s Sabre Training Weekend, we’d encourage you to attend the AGM, then hang around after for some of the theory lectures after.
Also on that note, we’ve had almost 40 boats sign up for this weekend’s training event. It’s a great response and shows the strength of the Sabre class – more boats at our training event than almost every other class has at their state titles! We’ve had a few last minute cancellations, so we’ve opened applications again:

Be quick. It’s free and there are only three spots remaining! If you can only do one day, then that’s fine.
Hope to see you all at Black Rock YC this weekend.
Cheers,
Chris

A big thank you to Wayne Bates and Russel Rooney for their management and coordination and to all the others that helped out with presentations and training.
All participants will be emailed out a feedback form in the coming days.
Also keep an eye on the Vic Association mailing list for news and photos .
