Another annual Vic coaching and training weekend completed…12-13 Oct 13
Weather a bit testing but value for the 23+ who participated.
Sunny on Sat with northerly wind between 15 and 20 knots… A few bullets in the afternoon of about 28 knots but no capsizes…credit to all participants for completing 2 back to back club races in the afternoon after the intense morning coaching sessions.
The sailing skills of our top coaches Nick Mouat, Wayne Bates, Chris Dance and Russell Rooney certainly transcribed into rib handling as they frequently placed their ribs a metre behind a sabre to give coaching advice during the club races.
Gary McLennan would normally be coaching on the water but has recently had a serious eye operation…all hoping that you are back on the water soon Gary.
Sunday was blown out but more than compensated by the excellent class sessions and rigging checks led by Nick Mouat and Gary McLennan ably assisted as always by Wayne Bates and Russell Rooney.
Even the BBQ snags seemed to be better this year…must have Fiona’s tomato sauce qtys down pat now.
The fact that you are a successful sailor (Nick Moat and Chris Dance are dual Australian champs, Wayne 5 times) does not always mean transcribe to communication ability but that is certainly not the case with these guys.
As always, it is fantastic that our top sailors have no secrets and are more than willing to get everyone up to speed.
A big thanks to head coach Nick Mouat, Wayne Bates, Gary McLennan, Chris Dance and Russell Rooney…ferric effort guys.
