BobbyI don’t know the answer other than I have seen lots of boats use them. I do know that you can turn features off so it would be great to find out what the answer is???

November 30, 2011 at 2:05 am #7475liamedlestonKeymasterPlease refer to the following extract from the class rules.
1.11.3 Options
Without affecting the generality of Clause 1.10 – Options, Alterations & Repairs above, the following options are permissible:s. GPS units may be carried on board for purpose of storing tracks, however information may not be accessed, nor be visually accessible, whilst racing.
The purpose of clause s is to allow devices such as “tacktrackers” to be used and data to be reviewed post-race. The Velocitek device, besides being almost as expensive as new sail, display GPS infomation whilst racing.

is not there in the rules on this web site
i would like to be able buy a new sail for $380 price of speed puk
it was always a poorly written rule, they just got it wrong
looking at the national sailing instructions and no 1.11.3in the
rules on the australian sabre web site if some body had bought one,
it would be a interesting .December 1, 2011 at 12:57 am #7477lamarstrehlow74ParticipantSo from my reading you could use a velocitec as long as you turn off the advanced features and used it as a compass, would we agree that is correct ??

December 9, 2011 at 6:36 am #7479lamarstrehlow74ParticipantThank you Barry for clarifying the issue. You make it very clear that it is illegal when used with all the functions available. I am thinking about joining you fleet and have a used velocitec from my sportsboat and It would have saved me buying a tack tick. No worries I just buy a tack tick and play by the rules, that’s what one design is all about.
Thanks for you reply
