Described by one interstate competitor as, “Just like Hammo, but without the heat,” the Huon Tasmanian Salmon Port Esperance Regatta is one of the highlights of the Tasmanian sailing calendar.
Run by the Port Esperance Sailing Club, the southernmost yacht club in Australia, the regatta has races for dinghies, keel-boats and cruisers as well as on land fine food and entertainment, both liquid and musical.
Two years ago PESC had one Sabre in it’s mixed dinghy fleet of about nine boats (the club has about 30 members in total). Now 6 Sabres are racing. Lindisfarne Sailing Club brought another ten Sabres down for last year’s regatta and with the Bellerive Crown Series, the Port Dalrymple Blockbuster weekend, and the State Titles, Tassie has an embryonic Sabre circuit.
So if you’re coming to Tassie for Easter, strap the boat to the roof of your car and join us in Dover, Far South Tasmania, on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 April.
