35th Sabre Nationals Heat 8 & 9 & Final Series Result

Races 8 & 9 were sailed in ESE winds 15 to 18 knots, the series was very open and any one of four sailors (Peter Hackett, Christopher Dance, Craig McPhee & Scott Olsen) could take the title, good close tactical racing was seen in both races, Scott managed to win Race 8 with Craig coming in second and Peter third, Christoper had an 8th. Race 9 saw Scott, Craig & Peter finish in the same places as Race 8 with Christopher coming in 4th. As reported by RQYS “Racing was so close the National Champion was decided by 1sec in the final race of the series, with four sailors in contention with 100m to go.” ( It sure doesn’t get any closer than that) Congratulations goes to Peter Hackett (Vic) who won and is the National Champion for 2012/13, Craig McPhee (SA) was runner up and Scott Olsen (WA) was 3rd. Congratulations also goes to Susan Hextell (Qld) who sailed consistantly throughout the series to win the 2012/13 National Women’s Title, Fiona Martin (Vic) was 2nd and Lea Foster (NSW) was 3rd.
