The Albert Sailing Club will again be conducting a full winter sailing program from 18 April to 26 September 2009 and extends an invitation for the Sabre Association and its members to participate. Participation can be for all or part of the winter season; designated Class Association Travellers Series races; and/or the club’s annual Mudpuddler Regatta. ASC’s current schedule is:
• A short races event on 18 April, followed by a six race Autumn Series to Saturday 30 May, trophy race on 6 June
• An eight race Winter series from Saturday 13 June to 15 August (plus trophy race on 11 July), followed by trophy races till end September.
• The annual Albert Sailing Club regatta on Saturday 20 June (p.m.) and Sunday 21 June (a.m. and p.m.). This is a popular short race series which is a stand alone regatta conducted and entered separately to the winter season (ASC winter membership covers regatta entry).
All races start at 2pm for Division 1, with following divisions at 3 minute intervals, except for the regatta which will start at 1:45 on the Saturday and in the morning on Sunday. A copy of the club’s 2009 Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions are available from http://www.albertsc.org.au.
Current water levels in Albert Park Lake are reasonable, and with some average rainfall levels should be good for sailing during the mid year months.
Fees are $10 for daily visitors, or $25 deal for sabre sailors sailing three visits as part of the Sabre Winter Traveller series apart from the Regatta. ASC winter membership (Senior $95, Student $70, Junior $60) gets you entry to all ASC races from 18 April to end of September, including the regatta, with an application form and fees to be completed on a boat’s first race day. A limited number of middle and top boat racks will be available for winter and can be applied for at time of winter membership registration (Top Rack $60, Middle Rack $75).
Albert Sailing Club looks forward to a continuing relationship with the Sabre Class Association and the involvement of Sabre members in ASC’s winter season.
