You haven't sailed in current til you've experienced the Derwent.....in mid-river where the top mark was located, the current is running at several knots. A record fleet for a Tassie championship with 61 entrants ! The race area off Bellerive is fantastic, with the stunning backdrop of central Hobart and Mt Wellington. Two Invitation races were held in a strong WNW breeze on 28 Dec, and Heats 1 & 2 on 29 Dec in equally strong SE winds. Long day on 29 Dec with over 5 hours on the water including 2 hours of waiting for the sea breeze to replace the norwester. More moderate SE sea breeze on 30 Dec.
